>> Tips
If your gown has a train, have your seamstress sew a bustle into your
gown. A bustle is a network of loops and hooks or strings that pull the train up in to the back of the gown. A bustle prevents people from stepping on your dress and helps to keep the hem cleaner throughout the day. It also allows you to move more freely to dance and mingle with your guests without dragging or carrying your train around.

Gown Care Instructions

We recommend that you check your gown annually. A good time to check it might be on your anniversary when you are thinking about your wedding. Keep in mind that your gown may be stored for twenty or thirty years awaiting the next bride. Checking your gown regularly will ensure that it will be in usable condition for the future.

Wash and dry your hands thoroughly before touching or handling your gown once it has been preserved. We recommend the use of cotton gloves for added protection. Open the box and inspect your gown. Check to make sure no insects or remnants of insects are in the box. Smell the gown for excessive dampness. Make sure the gown does not smell damp or mildew. If you suspect the gown is damp, leave the box open to air out for a few days. This should allow the gown to dry. Keep the box in a safe place, away from pets and children, while the gown is exposed.

Store your gown in a cool, dry place. Do not store your gown in an attic or basement where temperatures can widely fluctuate. An ideal place for storage might be under your bed or in a closet. You may want to place sticky insect traps around the box. This will allow you to assess whether you have insects in the area and treat them accordingly.

Do not wrap or encase the box in plastic. Plastic prevents air circulation and traps moisture. This can cause damage to your gown. If you are moving, you may use bubble wrap, or similar packing supplies, to protect the box during travel. Once the gown reaches its destination, open the box and allow it to air out. This will release any moisture build up and restore air circulation inside the box.

We do our best to provide you with the highest quality gown care and packing materials. It is critical that your gown is inspected regularly. Any problems that may develop can be corrected easily if detected in their earliest stages.
